Remembrance Day 1918-2019
Armistice of 11 November 1918
Armistice Day
Armistice
Day, Veterans Day, Memorial Day and Anzac Day et al.
At 5.45 am the official news declaring the end of World War 1, on
the 11th November 1918 marked the signing of The Armistice at
Compiegne, France. Thus, declared the end of the war between Germany (its
allies) and the Allies sacrificing their lives on behalf of Great Britain and Ireland,
the Commonwealth and The United States of America.
The commemorations of the dearly
departed are not forgotten. For those who have sacrificed their lives during a
time of great sacrifice. It is to behold that we should not forget those who
fought in wars before the Great War and after it. It's because of this, they have allowed us this freedom we cherish as we continue to save our way of life and how we choose to live it. On
the 28th June 1919, the Treaty of Versailles was signed, ending the war and declared peace amongst all, for as long as we acknowledge it.
Be sure to think of them when you
pass their final resting place and monuments dedicated to them including the
Arc de Triomphe and The Cenotaph and national sites all over the world. We will
also not forget the noble sacrifices of Freedom Fighters all over the globe and
those who fought for their own freedom and for others then and now and in the
future.
